'15 June 2001 - Lagaan released in theatres. At the time the movie was made, the mainstream Indian cinema showed stars wearing designer clothes. Most of the Bollywood shootings used to happen in Switzerland and other foreign locations. But, Lagaan broke many rules of mainstream cinema 20 years back in this regard. It was a complete deviation from a typical Bollywood film.
