'Sammohanam (Enchantment) is a 1994 Malayalam mystery drama directed and produced by N Padmakumar. Based on Balakarishnan Mangad’s short story ‘Rithubhedangal’, the movie has Archana on the lead along with Murali, Nedumudi Venda, KPSC Lalitha etc. The music is by Ilayaraja and the cinematography is done by M J Radhakrishnan. The movie is happening in an unnamed hamlet. In Kerala. A mysterious girl from nowhere visits the hamlet one day and the men of the hamlet are seduced by the girl’s beauty. The seductress ignites for chaos in the hamlet and what follows is the crux of the film. Ilayaraja bagged the Kerala State Film Award for the best background score in 1994 for Sammohanam. The movie was selected as the best picture in the 1994 Edinburg International Film Festival.
